Spring has arrived at Squaw Creek NWR. (March 11) Five days ago, only three Snow Geese had
arrived. Today, March 11, there are 1.2
million geese and the number is climbing.
Eagles have followed the Show Goose migration. The usually feed on the injured geese but
today they were eating fish.
A few Bufflehead Ducks were sharing the lake. They were very fast compared to the much
larger geese.
Snow geese are found in two morphs - nearly all white and
nearly all dark.
Squaw Creek NWR is adjacent to the southern portion of the
Losess Hills - the hills are visible in the background of this photo.
